Pastor's Corner Dec 31 2017

I wish to express my appreciation for the small army of volunteers who made (and are making) the Christmas celebrations so well arranged and beautiful: cleaners, gardeners, outside decorators, inside decorators, musicians and singers, altar servers, administrators and advisors. I cannot now name you individually as you deserve, but thank you very much.

Baptism: Where evil abounds grace abound even more! Four adults have been saved from the clutches of the evil one by the grace of God alone. The power of God is awesome to behold. Congratulations to Carter, Isaac, Reese, and Robert.

General Chapter: According to our proper law, every 6 years the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter has a General Chapter in July. All the permanent members of the FSSP vote to elect representatives from their district. The chapter is the highest legislative body in the community, having the power to change our constitution, and other foundational documents. The election of members happens itself at a meeting which will occur this January 12, 2018. Accordingly, both Fr. Gordon and I must be in Denton—I hear it's beautiful this time of year—Nebraska for this election. Please pray for our safe travels. A local priest will cover the sacramental emergency phone; if a true emergency arises, please do not hesitate to call.

Unusual Cancelation. Because we are both away, there will be no Mass on Thursday January 11, nor Friday January 12. These are noted in the bulletin.

Unusual Celebration: Jan. 12th is also the day of the installation of our new shepherd Bishop Barry Knestout. We must pray for our shepherds. They do not have an easy task.

Destruction: We are going to take advantage of the opportunity Jan. 11 and 12 to clean up some of the damage in the church caused by a leaky roof.

Back in Black: Thank you to all who helped us crawl financially from red ink to black. You will see the beautiful highlights on the back page. Keep up the good work, please!

May God bless you and yours abundantly in the New Year to come.
