Catholic Scouting Groups Pray for Persecuted Christian Children
- Updated on Thursday, February 05, 2015
Youth representing various Catholic scouting groups in the Diocese of Richmond gathered to pray on Tuesday evening, October 7th, feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, also known as Our Lady of Victory at the Battle of Lepanto. At this famous battle, Our Lady appeared and interceded for the Christians from being slaughtered and defeated in 1571. The youth participated in children's adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the rosary and benediction which were offered by Father Robert Novokowsky, FSSP at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richmond.
The Catholic Scouts offered their prayers in union together for the persecuted and tortured children in Iraq, Syria and the Middle East. Catholic scouting groups who were represented in participation were Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Trail Life USA, and American Heritage Girls. After prayer, the youth gathered for a time of fellowship. The cake which was donated by Designer Pastry displayed each organization's scouting logo. The event was sponsored by the Diocese of Richmond's Committee on Catholic Scouting and was preceded by the annual Worldwide Children's Eucharistic Holy Hour held days earlier.
